I'm about to hit the road for the rematch between NMSU vs. unm. The lead for the Rio Grande Rivarly at stake.
Very excited for my first venture out to the vaunted Pit. However, you silly loobs, just remember: the whole reason your arena is world famous has nothing to do with your team, university, or program. Lets remember the real reason why it's so highly thought of;
Best video I could find of the historic 1983 National Championship game as I'm pressed for time.
I'm off. As always I'll have a game recap a week or so after the fact.

I have never been there. Is the pit similar to the don haskins center?
And how hostel were unm fans towards aggie fans?
I hope I can make next years game in ALB, but my work schedule makes it tough.
Friggin A. I get a comment and I don't know about it for two weeks. I would have made a post on the experience if I had seen it early.
To answer your questions:
The pit is nothing like the Don. The side I sat on was nothing but benches for one thing. There are seatbacks behind the baskets, the mezzanine, from what I can tell the east side. But it seems the whole west side is strictly bench seating. Another thing is it's a lot bigger.
The fans for the most part were good nature. One kid, got on my nerves, but that's probably because the Aggies were losing. The gentlemen in front of me were knowledgable fans, and very polite.
It was a good experience, and I plan on returning there next season. I would definitly recommend going there at least once.
